ABOUT OUR FOUNDER AND CEO
Liz Nicolas (she/her) is a consultant, coach, anti-racism trainer, yoga instructor and attorney. She has over 15 years of experience helping organizations and individuals navigate complex issues. Her commitment to collective liberation and social justice have guided and informed her approach to individual and institutional transformation. Liz is a strategist and systems thinker who leads and collaborates with humor, empathy, generosity and kindness.
Prior to Black Amethyst, Liz worked as an attorney in both the non-profit and corporate sectors. She has served on the boards of multiple organizations providing oversight, governance and critical support. Liz brings her extensive knowledge of employment law, corporate policies and institutional systems along with her value for progressive change to her work.
As a black, Haitian-American daughter of immigrants born and raised in NYC, Liz has thrived at the intersection of multiple identities, languages and communities. Her upbringing and roots have made her a lifelong community advocate and connector of people across difference. Liz is a graduate of the Drexel University School of Law and the University of Pennsylvania. She loves dancing, teaching yoga, cooking, growing plants and traveling. Liz currently lives on a six-acre orchard outside of Rochester, NY with her partner, Jesse and their rambunctious dog, King.
